Live in USA (with Jeb Bishop and Roy Campbell)

Live in USACactus Truck’s new live album is out now! It features 71 minutes of material (almost three full shows) from our 2012 tour of the USA featuring Jeb Bishop and Roy Campbell. It’s a bit lo-fi, and perhaps stupidly long for our music, but we thought it worth documenting this tour and, for once, giving you all the bang for your buck you could hope for! It’s available digitally via bandcamp, just click the cactus to the left. Send us an email if you want to order a physical copy and we’ll figure it out! cactustruck (at) gmail (dot) com

Limited edition.

Produced by our own Tractata Records in collaboration with eh?.

2013 News!

So, after completing, I believe, 37 gigs on our USA tour, as well as a couple performances for the Ex’s 33 1/3 anniversaries in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, we have made it to 2013 and have been decidedly lazy for a bit…

However coming up! We will be playing in Dublin as part of the 12 Points! festival!! Very excited to be there and visit Dublin for the first time!!! Check out the festival here: http://www.12points.ie/

Also, in process:
We are currently working on two new CDs which should come out in 2013. One will be a limited edition CD of various recordings from our USA tour. It will be produced in collaboration with eh? records, the bastard little brother of Public Eyesore. Will (probably) include featured guests Jeb Bishop and Roy Campbell.

The other was recorded on the last day of our USA tour, immediately after a brutal concert with Kevin Shea and Tim Dahl and before our very last show with Roy Campbell that night. We went to Seizures Palace to record from midnight till 5:00 am. We were pretty exhausted, but at a certain point got a second (or third) wind. The sound of the recording is excellent, big thanks to Jason for staying awake with us. Label hunting at the moment but hoping to release it in the second half of the year.

Brand New For China! On LP NOW!

Our LP of Brand New For China! is finally out! Public Eyesore 119. We went for 180 gram vinyl and 45 RPM for the best sound quality possible. This is a studio recording mixed by Colin McLean (The Ex, Lean Left) and in the end we’re very happy with the sound of the vinyl. Also great to have Phil Wood’s artwork on a big vinyl sleeve. Each LP is numbered by hand!
Order now directly from us and it’s 15 euros, shipping included. First 10 orders, after that, we’ll see, have to charge extra for shipping as it’s very expensive in Holland. We can also send you the full size digital downloads when you order it. More info: email cactustruck@gmail.com

More reviews, The Wire and Free Jazz

The Wire

It’s easy to see why The Ex’s Terrie Hessels described Cactus Truck as the discovery of the year in The Wire’s 2011 Rewind a few months back. His idea of a friendly greeting is a hard punch to the solar plexus, and that’s what Amsterdam based American saxophonist John Dikeman and Dutch sparring partners guitarist/bassist Jasper Stadhouders and drummer Onno Govaert deliver on Brand New For China!, three of whose seven excitingly raw tracks clock in at just 20 seconds, for anyone nostalgic for grindcore. But there’s a lingering aftertaste of vintage free jazz in Dikeman’s rough, rubbery saxophone playing and Stadhouders’s wild, wiry guitar.
